About
Akasaka is a business, hotel, entertainment and residential high-class district smack-dab in the middle of Tokyo. It also has concert spaces, a large "city within a city" shopping complex called Akasaka Sacas, is near Tokyo Midtown, is the headquarters for a large Japanese TV station (TBS, Tokyo Broadcasting System) and is surrounded by 3 pretty popular shrines; the Toyokawa Inari, Hie Shrine and the Hikawa Shrine. During the day you will see hard-working businessmen quickly rushing about trying to make a buck while at night you will see it transform into an entertainment zone known mainly for high-end hostess bars where those same businessmen blow a bit of that hard-earned money so that a girl will sit next to them and talk. Other than the over-priced hostess bars you can also find many regular pubs, bars and restaurants scattered throughout the area. Since the area also has many large, high-end hotels, you'll also see tourists and maybe even the occasional famous person wandering the narrow alleyways of Akasaka. Akasaka sits between Nagatacho, the center of Japan's politics and the most famous night-life city in Tokyo, Roppongi. Being in the center of Tokyo and with convenient subway connections, Akasaka is a great place to stay when visiting as you can get nearly anywhere in Tokyo within 30 minutes or so.
