About
The Tokyo National Museum was established in 1872 and is Japan's largest and oldest museum in the country. It is also the largest art museum in Japan too. The museums goal is to house and preserve Asian art with a focus on Japan. The museum houses over 100,000 objects, 87 Japanese National Treasures and over 500 Cultural Properties important to Japan. To house, preserver and display all these objects the museum is made up of 6 different buildings specialize in different types of art and exhibitions. The museum is easily accessed by Ueno station (an easy 10 min. walk) and all information is provided in Japanese, Chinese, English, French, German, Korean, and Spanish.
