Sumida Aquarium at Tokyo Skytree Town by Guilhem Vellut (CC BY 2.0)
About
The Sumida Aquarium (in Japanese; Sumida Suizokukan すみだ水族館) is one of the many attractions, other than Tokyo Skytree, that visitors can visit at the Tokyo Skytree Town complex. It is a theme park with beautifully designed modern aquarium that houses over 10,000 sea creatures on the 5th and 6th floors of the Tokyo Solamachi Shopping Mall, one of the most luxurious shopping centers in Tokyo Japan. Inside the aquarium is the largest open indoor tank in Japan with a 350 thousand liter tank. What is nice is that there are no visible supports to obscure your view, and allows visitors to see the animals from virtually any angle. The "Main Attraction" tank is the "Tokyo Tank" that replicates the seas of the Ogasawara Islands listed as a World Heritage Site, an indoor open-pool tank where visitors can watch penguins and fur seals up close.
