The Samurai Museum in Tokyo has become quite a popular attraction with foreigner tourists. Do to it's central location in Shinjuku, easy access and excellent reputation, The Samurai Museum (サムライミュージアム in Japanese) is a quaint private collection museum that you may enjoy visiting. The entry price of 1,800 yen may seem slightly high but the museum is in the heart of Tokyo, it is a private collection of samurai artifacts (and some reproductions) and the price does include an English speaking guided tour. The museum itself in not huge (2 stories) and you can easily be "in and out" in about an hour... or, figure an hour and a half to two hours to really experience all it has to offer.

Although the museum does have a collection of some genuine samurai artifacts, some of the displays are "reproductions". Furthermore, although the guides are known to speak very good English and are quite funny, some of the "real" information given may be pretty basic and full of "myth" and "lore". That said, the museum is a very interesting and fun place to visit you can even wear samurai armor and have your picture taken. English guided tours run intermittently from every 20 min. to once an hour but it's definitely worth the wait to join a tour (rather than just look around on your own).
