Ryokan Tanabe is located in the "Old Town" area of the famous historic area of Takayama and is one of the MOST historical ryokans in Takayama. The rooms are traditional Japanese style (tatami, woven-straw flooring, and a Japanese futon) with indoor and outdoor hot springs made of rocks and cypress wood. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Japanese futon bedding. Free coffee is served at the lobby, and a common lounge with an Irori hearth is available for guests. A traditional multi-course meal is served for dinner, and a Japanese set menu is available for breakfast. Meals are served in the guests’ rooms. WiFi in all areas, a TV, fridge, and tea/coffee maker are included in each room. The en suite room also includes a bathroom. Tanabe Ryokan is a 1-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and a 5-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station.
