About
Potoncho (in Japanese; Ponto Cho 先斗町) is a very popular dining, drinking and visiting spot in Kyoto. The alley though narrow is packed with restaurants offering a wide range of dining options from inexpensive Yakitori to traditional and modern Kyoto cuisine. There are also Geisha houses and Tea houses offering a very "Atmospheric" Kyoto feeling. It is famous with the Japanese in that it preserves traditional architecture and forms of entertainment. This area is not "inexpensive" however and be prepared to spend some money in any of the establishments. The alley comes from Shijo-dori to Sanjo-dori, one block west of Kamogawa River.
