The National Museum of Nature and Science opened in 1871. The museum has both Natural History (an impressive amount of mammal and dinosaur exhibits) and science exhibits with "hands-on" interactive experiments. They even have a Pre-Meiji exhibit of what science was like in Japan during those times.

Hours: Weekdays: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry: 4:30 p.m.), Fridays and Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last entry at 7:30 p.m.))
Closed: Every Monday (If Monday is a national holiday, the Museum is open Monday and closed the following Tuesday.) December 28 to January 1.
Cost: 18+: 630 yen, under 18: Free
