About
"Manga" in Japanese is basically "comic book" in English although "similar" a "Manga" is typically a long format story with pictures/sub-titles. There are many different "styles" of Manga including the "Anime" style. Opened in 2006, it's collection houses over 300,000 items! The Manga Museum is also known as the Kyoto Kokusai Manga Museum. The "Kyoto International Manga Museum" has 3 floors and a basement. Most of its walls are lined with shelves of manga. There is a massive collection of manga and even translated into different languages. There are also features of exhibitions of manga on various themes. The museum houses Manga all the way back from 1862 "Japan Punch" by Charles Wingman who lived in Yokohama.

Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (entry until 5:30 p.m.)
Closed: Every Wednesdays(or, if Wednesday is a national holiday, the following Thursday), during the New Year's holiday and maintenance periods.
Cost: Adult (18+): 800 yen, 12-17: 300 yen, 5-11: 100 yen, under 5 are free.
