About
Kibune ("Yellow Boat") is a quaint and pretty little small town up in the northern valleys of Kyoto City which was built around the Kibune Shrine. The shrine is dedicated to the the god of water and rain. The "story" goes that the shrine was built when a goddess traveled up the river in a yellow boat and ended her journey here. Not many tourists visit Kibune (although it is a popular destination for those living in Japan) but it's actually an easy destination from Kyoto station and worth the trip. Kibune has many Ryokan's (Japanese Inns) and restaurants to visit and during the summer months, June to September, many restaurants build platforms that extend out over the river where you can eat.
