The Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art is a "World Class" art museum in the city of Sakura out in Chiba Prefecture near Narita International Airport. Although the museum is is too far to walk to from any train station, there is a free shuttle bus from Sakura Station which will get you to the museum in 20 min. The museum itself is out in the countryside surrounded by nature and a beautiful park. There are famous and priceless works at the museum including Monet's Water Lilies series and the 17th century Namban Screen. The Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art was founded by art collector Katsumi Kawamura who wanted to share his collection with the public.
There are close to 1,000 pieces of art on display at the The Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art which includes a permanent exhibition and rotating temporary exhibitions. Artists who's works have appeared at the museum include Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, René Magritte, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, and Frank Stella. After strolling around the museum, don't forget to take a nice leisurely walk through the gorgeous 30-hectare park. There are a couple tea/coffee shops around along with a place to get a meal.

From Tokyo Station you can get to Sakura Station in about 1 hour and 15 min. (Sakura is out near Narita Airport). From Sakura Station take the free shuttle bus from the "Kawamura Museum Bus Stop" on the South Exit side of the station. It's about a 20 min. ride.

Hours: 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (last admission 4:30 p.m.)
Closed: Mondays (except national holidays, then closed next non-holiday), Year End and New Year Holidays. Also during exhibit changes.
