About
Kappabashi Street is an interesting place to stroll through. The area is filled with shops that supply the restaurant industry. Appliances, knives, mass-produced crockery and one of the most interesting, plastic food displays that Japanese restaurants use to put out in front of their restaurants. You don't find many tourists here but if you are a tourist and in the Asakusa area and have an extra couple hours, you may want to stroll on over to Kappabashi Street and experience this unique place. "Kappa" in the word "Kappabashi" means "raincoat" but it also means "mythical river creature" which this area has adopted as their Mascot.
