About
The Ancient Orient Museum in Ikebukuro, near Sunshine City in the "Culture Center" building 7th floor, is a small private museum. They specialize in Central Asia and Near East artifacts and exhibitions. They have a few permanent exhibits including Greco Buddhist art of Gandhara and some art relating to the art of Palmyra and Persia. Once in a while the also have "special" exhibitions with art and artifacts from various places in Asia. This small museum is not necessarily a "go to" destination for tourists on a "once in a lifetime" trip to Tokyo but if you have some extra time, are staying in Ikebukuro or are an Expat looking for something new to do, the Ancient Orient Museum may make a nice side trip for a couple hours. Unfortunately there is limited (if any) English explanations about exhibits.
The Ancient Orient Museum is in Ikebukuro. See Ikebukuro for more nearby attractions.
