Tokyo Disney Sea Trip

I squinted in the early morning sun and smiled at the sight before me. Gondolas and bridges over canals… I felt like I was in Venice but much closer to home. Of the different ports, Mediterranean Harbor was the nearest to the entrance of Tokyo Disney Sea, a theme park based on the stories and legends of the sea. Tokyo Disneyland is also the only one with this theme park and the child in me began to laugh and clap her hands in glee the moment I stepped foot.
To one side, I saw the impressive structure that is the Hotel MiraCosta, most of its rooms featuring a nice view of the park. If I wasn’t on a tight budget, I would have stayed there as I heard it opened to the park earlier on some days. As it was, I had to be back in my sister’s home by night.

I quickly found a seat on one of the gondolas and enjoyed the view. The Mediterranean Harbor was made to look like an Italian port town with canals and gondolas that mirrored that Venetian charm that I wished to see… someday.

After the Mediterranean Harbor, I made my way to the Mysterious Island, which must have been taken straight out of Jules Verne’s fantasies. It even had a volcano sitting right in the middle of it all. Since my time was limited, I settled on a ride on Captain Nemo’s submarine and immersed myself in the beauty of the ocean depths.

Without wasting time, I headed to the Mermaid Lagoon, which I was just itching to see. I was walking so fast I did not notice the guy in front of me until his soda flew in the air and drenched his shirt. Horrified, I offered him a paper towel from my backpack, which he took with a smile.

"I’m so sorry. That was totally clumsy of me but I just wanted to see everything before I had to head home and –" I squinted at the guy when I realized he was laughing at me. "Are you actually laughing at me?"

He shook his head. "You looked so cute right there with that determined look on your face. For a moment, I just wanted to see if you would actually walk right into me and you did!"

I glared at him. "So, this is just some social experiment you do on unsuspecting female tourists?"

"Only to select female tourists," he corrected me before thrusting a hand in front of me. "My name is Yamato."

I took his hand gingerly and wondered briefly if he was about to rob me or drug me and take me to some godforsaken place and have his way with me. He must have noticed because he raised one really sexy eyebrow and flung one of his comments my way.

"It’s just a hand, not a snake that’s going to bite your fingers off."

I lifted my chin. "I wouldn’t put it past you."

He grinned. "Hai, but I rather enjoyed walking into you."

The guy was determined, I had to give him that.

"Are you off to see the Mermaid Lagoon Theater? It will be starting in a few minutes," he asked me.

"You seem to be rather knowledgeable about this place. Do you work here?" I asked him, hands on my hips in what my sister had termed my "battle stance".

He shook his head. "No, but my brother does."

In the end, I warily accepted his offer to tour me around the park and when the time came for me to go, I must admit that I had a really good time. We traded numbers just before I got on the train that would take me home.

"Okaeri," my sister welcomed me home in her soft voice. A dark eyebrow raised when she saw what must have been a goofy smile on my face. "Looks like somebody had a good time. Met someone cute?"

I chuckled and launched a pillow in her direction as my phone beeped. Elaine just laughed knowingly as she headed back to the kitchen to finish making dinner. With a soft smile, I typed out a reply to Yamato.

Yes, I had a good time. Domo arigatou gozaimasu.
