"Rice" is probably the most important aspect of "Life" for the Japanese people and this festival celibrates "Rice". This event "Rice Planting Festival" (in Japanese; Otaue Matsuri 御田植祭) takes place all around Japan but the most famous is known to happen at the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine (in Japanese "住吉大社"). Many events take place during this time which include dance (in Japanese "Sumiyoshi Odori" 住吉踊り), singing and the actual planting of the seedlings (in Japanese "Otaue Rice Planting Festival" 御田植祭).
