On August 6 (known as "Bomb Day" in Japanese), Hiroshima holds the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony is to pray for the victims AND for everlasting world peace. Families, relatives and people from all around the world come to participate in the ceremony which is held in front of the Memorial Cenotaph inside Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. At 8:15 a.m., the exact time when the bomb was dropped, the Peace Bell is rung and citizens, either at the ceremony, at home, or at work offer silent prayers for one minute for the repose of the souls of the atomic bomb victims and for peace.
From JR Hiroshima Station walk to the Dentetsu Hiroshima Station (3 min. walk) then jump on a No.2, No.3, No.6 or No.7 train for 15 min. and get off at the Genbaku Dome Mae stop.
